I love a good cupcake! Nothing compares to the idea of a personal mini cake perfectly topped with precisely piped frosting and all types of  glorious gourmet goodness!  When it comes to qualities we desire or consider non-negotiable in people, clothes, and food we all have a list. For me, I like a cupcake that is:

  • moist
  • rich
  • never spongy or too airy
  • appropriately dense
  • able to be held in my hand or enjoyed with a fork
  • presented with the prefect frosting to cake ratio
  • wisely priced
  • so good, I’d want to eat another!

The following is a list of popular bakeries in the DC that are at the forefront of the battle of the best cupcake in DC!  Share your experiences, and what makes the perfect cupcake for you!

I won’t interject my opinions on this post, but if you search the site or some of my tweets, you’ll see which bakeries I prefer. Maybe I’ll revisit all of them and then re-review them. What do you think?

    Hi,
Well I must say that Georgetown Cupcake is my favorite with Hello Cupcake coming in second. Although, I haven’t tried Baked & Wired and I hear that their cupcakes are great! A fresh, moist crumb and high quality ingredients are what sets the best cupcakes apart from the rest for me. Also, cute decorating also adds a nice touch.

I’m so glad you broke the silence! I’d agree, but my 1st & 2nd would be flipped with yours. LOL
