Tuesday’s Temptation
Cereal Week continues…
It’s with no reservations that I go the predictable route and present today’s Tuesday’s Temptation. Yes, if you guessed it, today I’m adding Rice Krispie Treats to my Brown Bag! Before I move on, I can’t add the treats that are individually wrapped in the blue metallic paper. Those are fine when you’re on the go, but I’m adding homemade Rice Krispie Treats!

This sweet treat is a time-honored tradition in kitchens across America. For years, various levels of cooks have emptied a box of Rice Krispies cereal into a bowl and poured a mixture of melted butter and marshmallows over the cereal to make a sweet and chewy treat that is ultra versatile.
The recipe is super simple. I remember making these as a child at home and at school. If you want to make them:
According to the www.ricekrispiestreats.com, you’ll need:
- 3-tablespoons of butter or margarine
- 1-10 ounce package of regular size marshmallows
- 6 cups of Rice Krispies
Directions
1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
2. Add the Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until well coated.
3. Using buttered spatula or wax paper, evenly press mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cool. Cut into 2-inch squares. Best if served the same day.
*If you want to make thicker squares, use a smaller pan.
I hope you enjoy this Tuesday’s Temptation! I’ll be adding a few variations to my Brown Bag!

Rice Krispy treats were one of the first things I learned to make in my Home Ec class…these and snickerdoodles (smile). I still love Rice Krispy treats, I think they will always be one of my favorite snacks!
THESE ARE THE BEST! YUM!! And yes, I agree that the individually wrapped ones in the blue metallic paper just don’t taste the same.
I just read through the entire article and it was excellent. thanks for sharing! Have you ever thought of adding videos your posts to keep the visitors more entertained?
